Bruna Jones: Despite your short time acting in adult films, you already have a large representation in the industry with more than 120 works in your curriculum, but before we talk a little more about it, let's go back a little bit in the past, shall we? What did you used to do or work with before you started acting in adult videos?
Dale Savage: This will blow peoples minds but for 30 years i was a Firefighter / paramedic for a large city in Ohio. The last 15 i was an officer, none of the guys knew i was into guys... it was a pretty conservative area and telling them would not be worth the risk of loosing their respect and becoming the butt of jokes behind my back. They found out in a big way though... seeing me in porn. And honestly they could have given a shit... they thought it was pretty cool.
Bruna Jones: Some people enter adult entertainment for fame, money or even pleasure. What motivated you to start making these movies?
Dale Savage: Back in the day i had a friend that used to be a "Falcon" model and it intrigued me. After i retired i wanted to know if i was good enough mentally to do it, so i whipped myself into shape took the needed nude pics and began applying to studios. I do not do it for money, i'm doing just fine financially, i do it for fun and doing something that really takes some courage to do. Because once you're out there you have no walls and nothing hide behind.
Bruna Jones: Every beginning of a career is usually a little more complicated, I imagine even more for those who are exposing themselves in front of so many people. How was the beginning of your journey as an actor?
Dale Savage: It was liberating to tell you the truth. Porn is what it is and what you make out of it, for me it made me a much better person. Like i said before any wall that i had (which i had plenty) are quickly torn down and opens you up to be who you want to be.
Bruna Jones: Nowadays pornography has become much more accessible to the entire world, a small recording can go viral in a matter of minutes and with that more people are consuming this type of material, from an actor's point of view, do you believe that even today can there be prejudice against those who work in this profession?
Dale Savage: There will always be people that object to pornography and that is their right. My feeling is if you dont like it,,, dont watch it. But also dont bash us while you secretly sit in the bathroom jerking off to porn then go to church on sunday condemning us.
Bruna Jones: Artists in general tend to be perfectionists about the work they do, do you have the habit of watching your own videos and analyzing the work you do?
Dale Savage: Contrary to popular belief the studios very very rarely notify you when a scene is released, and they dont give us free access to watch the entire scene. When you see it on twitter thats when we know its out and we see the same clip as eveyone else... But i dont critique myself sexually its more of a physical evaluation of your body and how good it looks...thats the tough part for me because you tend to be overly critical of your physical appearance.
Bruna Jones: As I said at the beginning of our interview, you've participated in more than 120 recordings throughout your career, I imagine you have some funny or unusual stories about backstage. Could you share an unforgettable one?
Dale Savage: 120??? oh my lord...had no idea it was that many
Some shoots are definitely more memorable than other but a incident that always comes to mind occured at TSA after a shoot. The shoot was running long and had to get to the airport right after the cum shot. So i literally cum, get dressed and get an Uber to the airport. When i got to the airport i still had a raging hard on tucked up in my waist band, i got through the TSA machine and i get flagged. The guy starts patting me down and asked whats in my waist band. I look him squarely in the eyes and said.."i just got done shooting a porno and i still got a boner" he quickly looked and smiled and said "can you tuck it down at least" We smiled and gave each other that look and off i went
Bruna Jones: Despite being in this industry for a short time, his career is already well established. What is it like for you to have all this recognition? What do you intend to do with this success in the future? Are there any long-term plans for what you are doing?
Dale Savage: I'm still amazed that people recognize me, i'm a pretty unassuming person, but when people do ask are you Dale Savage i'm always very polite and thankful to them. I live in the mountains of Colorado and fly in and out the cities where i shoot at. To me its important to shoot and go home and not immerse myself in the porn culture when not working. I have an incredible life when i'm not Dale. When i retired as a firefighter my goal was to live in Colorado where i enjoy the incredible beauty and healthy outdoor lifestyle. Getting into porn was not even on my mind when i moved here. When my porn career is complete ( which is not to far off ) i have a great life out here which i would never give up
Bruna Jones: In the United States and Brazil, reality shows are on the rise. There are several... "The Voice", "Survivor", "Big Brother"... If you were invited to participate in one, would you accept?
Dale Savage: Nah, that does nothing for me. Dale is a persona of me, even though there is alot of me in Dale. I personally don't want to be known as a porn star i want to be known as a incredible father, friend and caring person that just happened to be fortunate to be a porn star for a period in an incredible life.
Bruna Jones: Have you been to Brazil at any time? Would you like to come visit us when possible?
Dale Savage: No i've never been to Brazil i've always wanted to go and experience the beauty and culture of that country....and of course see all the beautiful men there😀
Bruna Jones: The year is almost over, but still... Is there any news of yours coming? Something you can share with your fans?
Dale Savage: Things have slowed down for me i'm not the fresh faced daddy that i was a few years back. In this business you have to understand that ...i took somebody's spot and someone will be taking my spot and thats ok with me. But the castings that ive been receiving are higher quality, dialogue driven, character roles which i totally enjoy m ore than the typical "fuck flicks" These catings are from Next Door Studios and there sites Taboo Men, Pure Taboo and Disruptive Films They areall high quality multi camera all day events. There are about four that are awaiting release and feature Chris Damned, Calvin Banks, Carter Del Ray, Jack Bailey,Roman Todd, Pierce Paris and Korra Del Rio...these are all the best in the busines and the content shows it
